It dawned and we have learned of the call for the Graphic Humor Award of the Americas 2019.
An initiative that many international cartoonists have already applauded. It is an excellent idea and also timely after the recent events of cessation of some cartons in USA and Canada, the closure of the mythical magazine MAD.
We also applaud the deserved tribute to the great Naranjo, one of the greats of Mexican humor and the world, as well as master HelioFlores and Rius, all of them have created a school and not only a school for great cartoonists and brave thinkers, they were also admired from the beginning for their professionalism and their ethics maintained over time. In my opinion, I miss not being able to know the members of the jury before sending our works, it would be a gesture on the part of the organizers of total transparency and to apply the good practices, although they already tell us that the decision will be unappealable. The website is wonderfully well designed and is appreciated (unusual in calls for graphic humor). And by the way, Cartónclub, Boligan is its founder.
