12th Anniversary of the Indian Cartoon Gallery
Indian Institute of Cartoonists (IIC) recently organized the 12th Anniversary of the Indian Cartoon Gallery, Prize distribution ceremony of MKMA Competition 2018, and an exhibition of Indian Cartoons on 6th July 2019 at the cartoon gallery. The Exhibition is open to the public till 27th July 2019.
The IIC had recently organized the 11th International Maya Kamath Memorial Awards Competition for Excellence in political cartooning. As the Opinion of the Jury goes: The cartoons were diverse and of high quality. Most of them were responses to the current political or social situations or crises. One could see the enormous amount of talent displayed in the Budding category. The selection was done after much discussion but unanimity. Selected 50 Indian Cartoons and 6 works of budding cartoonists, among the entries of the competition including the award-winning cartoons are being displayed in the exhibition. 7 Award-winning Foreign Cartoons were also on show.
The Jury included Mr. Girish Karnad, noted playwright and actor, Mr. Balan Nambiar, well-known artist and sculptor, Mr. B.G.Gujjarappa, senior cartoonist and Mr. Vivek Shanbhag, noted writer and Editor.
