The first large-scale protests since President Emmanuel Macron stoked public resentment by ramming a higher retirement age measure through parliament without a vote were held in Paris and other French towns, where large crowds flocked to the streets.
On Thursday, protestors blockedade Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, refineries, and ports as strikes disrupted travel throughout France.
Union leaders applauded the “significant” mobilization, which saw the organization of more than 250 protests around the nation.
